BEOWULF at Pusey House Chapel – Saturday Performances ⚔️🐉
Kings are tested, dynasties rise and fall, and monsters stalk the dark in Full Moon Theatre’s radical adaptation of the Old English epic Beowulf. Created by Emma Nihill Alcorta in collaboration with Professors Francis Leneghan and Rachel Burns from the University of Oxford’s Faculty of English, the production pairs a dynamic modern-English playtext with a live original score and stage combat. Saturday offers two chances to see it — a 2:30pm matinee and a 7:30pm evening performance — in the beautifully atmospheric surroundings of Pusey House Chapel, with generous support from Pusey House.
What to expect:
⚔️ An epic brought thrillingly to life — Hrothgar’s mead hall, the monster Grendel and an untested hero from across the sea, retold for a modern audience while keeping the urgency of the original
🎼 A live original score — Music performed live alongside the action, heightening the drama of Beowulf’s battles and the passing of time
🗡️ Two performances in one day — Choose the Saturday matinee at 2:30pm or the evening show at 7:30pm, both staged with sword-fighting choreography in the evocative Pusey House Chapel
Tickets are £9 for general admission and £6.50 for students, with booking fees added at checkout. Contains fantasy violence including a ‘monster’ consuming humans, references to death, use of weapons and strong language.
