Antiquity in Simulation: Global Receptions of the Classical World in Video Games 🎮🏛️

A one‑day hybrid conference exploring how the classical world is received and reinterpreted in video games produced across different regions. The programme considers major Western titles (for example Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, Rome: Total War, Hades) and games from East Asian and other non‑Western studios, including mobile platforms. The conference addresses both the reception of the classical world in games produced outside the West and the reception of those classically inspired games in non‑Western contexts.

What to expect:

  • 🗓️ A full‑day programme of papers and panels on the reception of classical antiquity in video games
  • 🌍 Comparative perspectives on Eastern and Western approaches to classical reception in games
  • 🎮 Case studies of major titles and mobile games engaging with Greco‑Roman themes
